Years ago I read a book by Robin Jones Gunn titled Victim of Grace When God’s Goodness Prevails. When I was trying to think of a title for this blogpost, Pockets of Grace popped into my head. I have a feeling that thought came from something Robin wrote in her book.

But the creator of our Pockets of Grace is our amazing God.

Do things just sometimes randomly happen, even when you’re not being particularly good, or serving others, or serving God? Good things that you can’t explain. That you have done nothing to deserve—like when a friend sends you a devotional in the mail, right out of the blue, that is so suited to your personality and what you need right now—A pocket of grace.

Or you read a quote that helps you understand how you should look at life as in this one:

“The great thing with unhappy times is to take them bit by bit, hour by hour like an illness. It is seldom the present, the exact present, that is unbearable.”—C.S. Lewis

“Second Chronicles 16:9 says, ‘The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him’ (NLT). Our part in the blessing is to be committed to him and faithful in doing whatever work he puts in our path. Yet God does more than just measure out a blessing for our faithfulness. The blessing happens inside our obedience. And inside the blessing he delights in adding a hidden sweetness. That sweetness is love.” (From Victim of Grace, p. 51)

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. —1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV

I recently met my Mary Kay consultant in person for the first time after being with her for at least two years now. She is a strong believer and told me, “I don’t know how women get through this life without the Lord.” Spending time with her and learning about the Mary kay products was so inspiring, it made me want to makeover my medicine cabinet to look “French” and provide a pocket of grace for getting ready in the mornings more efficiently.

I worked on it today… to completion…but I didn’t know how stressful it would be to try to use only one roll of water resistant wallpaper in such a tight space. I was in constant prayer over this project, and the LORD helped me… I know!

The medicine cabinet before beginning the makeover.

I emptied out the contents of the cabinet.

This wallpaper looked very French to me. 🤗

The final results.

I think it will be so much more fun getting ready in the mornings in this little “Pocket of Grace” the Lord helped me complete.

“This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.” Psalm 118:23 KJV
