Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s most worthy of us all….

So many times we try to put our values and judged worth of others… onto them.

They do something right? They are worthy of our love and admiration.

They do something we deem wrong? They have turned to scum and we treat them with no value.

They serve us and supply our needs? We love them — temporarily.

We are all a work in progress. And once saved, we are on a continual journey of being sanctified. Some days we do things well, and we think we have conquered.

The next day we fail.

Up and down.

Day after day.

I think it is time to stop judging other people’s worth, and also to stop looking in other people’s mirrors who reflect back if they think we are worthy or not.

And maybe, it’s time to stop looking in our own flawed mirrors that reflect back whether we think we are worthy or not.

Could it be time to start looking in God’s mirror?

What does God’s mirror reflect back to us?

  1. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. – Psalm 139:14
  2. We are God’s children. – John 1:12
  3. We are chosen. – 1 Peter 2:9
  4. We are a new creation. – 2 Corinthians 5:17
  5. God has plans for us to fulfill. – Jeremiah 29:11
  6. We are God’s workmanship and He created us to do “good works.” – Ephesians 2:10
  7. We are loved and live by faith. – Galatians 2:20, Romans 5:8
  8. We have been given a spirit of no fear, of power, of love, and of self-control/sound mind. – 2 Timothy 1:7
  9. God supplies everything we need. – Philippians 4:19
  10. God is on our side. – Psalm 118:6
  11. We are precious in His sight. – Isaiah 43:4
  12. We are free from human rules. – Colossians 2:16-23

Jesus set us free… and with that freedom we are free to… “throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and to run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus , the pioneer and perfecter of faith….” Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)

And to keep going and never give up we can focus on this verse… “Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:3 (NIV)

We will always have opposition… just as Jesus did.

Jesus showed the way for us to be who God designed us to be and to only look to God for the reflection of who we are in Christ. To do this, we have to stay in God’s Word, seeking His wisdom and advice on how to live from the scriptures. He spells it all out very well.

God’s main goal is for us to love Him above all others and to love others as ourselves. That means to put God first, number one, above all else and others. When you do this… you may be surprised at some changes you begin to recognize that you need to make in how you live your life. After you love God first… then He gives you the ability to love others.
