When I was at the Blue Ridge Christian Writer’s Conference a few weeks ago, I happened to purchase this book, He Sings Over Me, by Kristi Brown Johnson. Kristi and her husband, Russell, led the worship music during our assemblies. Their music is amazing. I’m sure Kristi knows a lot about singing over others.
I started reading Kristi’s book this past week in little segments each morning to help me get through each day.
Kristi has divided the book into short chapters that give hope and encouragement in various areas of life.
Here are a list of some of the chapter titles to give you an idea of the content:
- WHAT AM I HERE FOR?
- GOOD VERSUS BEST
- REST
- IS GOD DONE WITH ME YET?
- WHAT’S THE RUSH??
- STEPPING OUT OF COMFORT TO THRIVE
- BE STILL
- OUR SECURITY SHOULD ONLY COME FROM GOD
Kristi ends each chapter with these words….
“Listen…God is singing over you now.
Quiet your heart and pray…”
And then she follows that with a prayer related to the chapter content.
Here is an example of a prayer that was helpful to me…
“Father, I need to be able to rest. You made our bodies to need it and I struggle with allowing everything to consume my mind, focusing on everything and not being able to rest in You. Please help me to be still and hear You as You speak, sing, whisper. Thank You for never giving up on me. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”
I’ve been so exhausted this week I haven’t been able to formulate a prayer. Kristi’s prayers have become a lifeline for me, as I can pray those when I’m not able to make my mind work for prayer. I highly recommend this book for giving you help and hope in trying times. Sometimes we desperately need to be reminded that God is singing over us.
You can find the kindle version of the book on Amazon for $9.99.

Below is the Bible verse that God sings over us.
“The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)
Have a great week!
