I’ve been sick for a week now. What I’ve got is some kind of weird virus like I’ve never had before. Honestly, if someone told me I had whooping cough right now, I would believe them. I guess anything is possible.
The funny thing about this virus is the cough. It never stops. I can’t sleep for coughing. I have fits of coughing where I think it will never stop. I’m full to the gills with supplements, essential oils, teas, inhalers, nebulizer treatments, and steroids. My doctor declined to order antibiotics because she says its a virus.
I have four pills left from a prescription of antibiotics I got from a dermatologist office a few weeks ago. I’m going to finish those. I’m desperate at this point.
When I’m sick, I don’t find any kind of “modern medicine” to be helpful.
In fact, I’m wondering if all the knowledge the medical community possesses, or thinks they possess, will actually kill you from neglect. (Maybe that’s just the steroids talking 😜)
Anyways… the funny thing is… moving and working outside with a mask on helps me breathe. It is the only time I feel like I can breathe normally. So…I’ve worked all week, and today, I finished my projects with the garden shed. I tilled the area and planted buckwheat on both sides of the walkway.
My plan is to till paths through the buckwheat on one side and plant my corn. I’m hoping the buckwheat will not only act as a cover crop, but will keep down the weeds between the rows of corn. On the other side, I want to dig holes and plant my melons and winter squash plants. I’m hoping the buckwheat will keep the produce out of the dirt, making it cleaner and less susceptible to pests.
We’ll see how those plans go.

The finished garden storage shed, brick pad, and walk way.

I made a fire pit this week from some leftover keystones. I use this area to burn weeds and garden debris.

I bought these pots with a handle or hanger on the side from Dollar Tree at $1.25. I planted strawberries and hung them on the fence. We’ll see how they produce.
So… did I leave a mark on the world with these projects?
As I was finishing up the pathway, my husband walked by and said, “Someone, someday, is going to have a mess when they no longer want this walkway here. But it won’t be us, because we won’t be here.”
To which I replied, “It won’t be a problem. They have machinery that can remove something like this in a matter of minutes. They’ll probably just bull doze everything down.”
And THE MARK I MADE ON THE WORLD, will be gone.
But, Christ has left a mark on me that will never be taken away. I pray you have the same mark on you… and here are some verses that I love which tell exactly what that mark looks like on us as we try to live each day…
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light. For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:9-14 (NIV)
A prayer like that for yourself or people you love, will definitely LEAVE A MARK.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK… AND STAY HEALTHY!
I feel your pain, Jane! I’ve had something similar for two weeks. Going to my third doctor tomorrow. You are always making a mark. Prayers for your healing.
