Meriam-Webster defines an optimist as: a person who is inclined to be hopeful and to expect good outcomes.

Hello, my name is Jane Green and I am a recovering optimist.

You might be an optimist if you think this

Is going to turn into this

in three pleasant days of work.

You might be an optimist if you think allowing three or four stray cats to hang around your house is not going to turn into forty cats.

You might be an optimist if you think that when a 300 pound person tells you that the reason they are a type 2 diabetic and they need knee replacement surgery is because they inherited diabetes and being “big boned” from a parent, or their hormones are messed up, and then you sweetly inform them that it might be their food choices instead and think they will receive it well.

• You might be an optimist if you believe sinful people are going to suddenly start making the right choices in life.
• You might be an optimist when you believe that one night you might get more than three hours of sleep.
• You might be an optimist if you think one day, magically, someone will cook you a gourmet meal for supper when you are too exhausted to cook.

But hey!

Maybe being an optimist is not a bad thing. And maybe I can still be an optimist. Optimistic is another word for being hopeful.

And I am hopeful that:

• Jesus is coming back soon.
• And heaven will be better.
• And that I won’t sin anymore when I get to heaven.
• And that heaven is beyond my expectations.
• And people will do what they are supposed to do there—including me!

And, I might just get that supper!
